PASTORAL MINISTRY
‘Love one another as I have loved you’
At First Holywood the Ministerial Team and the Church Elders are always available to support you in times of need and they would generally be your first point of contact.
We are aware, however, that there are times when you may require additional love and support, particularly during times of illness, bereavement, the birth of a baby, or when you may experience unseen changes in your circumstances. At times such as these we would wish to support you by providing the appropriate care you need.
With this in mind the Pastoral Care Ministry at First Holywood has now been expanded to include teams of willing helpers who will, when required, endeavour to support you and ease your burden.
Details of these teams and their leaders are listed below.

Prayer Ministry
If you are in need of prayer please ring Peggy and she will contact a group who will pray earnestly for you or your loved ones. All requests will be held in confidence.

Transport Ministry
If you are unable to drive and would like to attend church or a church organisation please ring Paul and his team will ensure that you get there. They can also help with transport to and from hospital appointments etc.

Meals Ministry
There can be occasions during times of illness, bereavement or after the birth of a baby when it is difficult to maintain regular meals. If you are struggling with this please phone Cheryl and her team will be happy to help you.

Visitation Ministry
You will of course receive visits from The Ministerial Team and your Church Elder but if you are feeling a bit lonely or are housebound due to a change in your circumstances then please ring Kathleen and she will send you a friendly visitor.

Ministry to the Bereaved
We recognise that the death of a loved one is very hard to bear. The Ministerial Team and your Elder will support you at this difficult time but should you require extra support then please phone Rosemary and she will put you in touch with a specially trained bereavement counsellor or a bereavement support volunteer.
If you would wish refreshments to be served in the church halls following the Funeral Service of your loved one then please phone Margaret.

Family Ministry
The needs of the family are many and varied and may at times even require professional input. Whatever your difficulty it is always good to talk and those involved in this ministry will be willing to listen and put you in touch with the relevant people who can help you. You don't have to face this problem alone. All requests will be dealt with in confidence.
